The themes of Truman sound like the themes of a movie from the 80's called Deathwatch. If you liked Truman you might like Deathwatch. It was French and very intelligent. It was classified as science fiction, but I really thought it was of much more general interest that the typical science fiction film. It was about a man who gets fitted with a video camera in his eye(if I remember right) and befriends a woman who is dying so that her story can be filmed without her knowing it (at least I recall she didn't know- it has been years since I saw it). Maybe I'll take my own recommendation and go rent it myself- again.

James--I agree with your assessment of Truman. A very unique film. I will restrain commenting further also. Myron
