David, how could you, not of posted this here, excellent point. ICI are in business to make money for their own shareholders - either through direct sales of their proprietary products or through the sales of non-ICI products that they sell under license, e.g., they are marketing Aquasol International's 'aquasol solution' under the ICI trade name of Hydrosol 700. There are lost of differnt ways to make money. I doubt if ICI want to buy out NIR. Why? If they have strong agreements with them - what's to be gained? Best to keep the original NIR team together to continue with their work. NIR and Aquasol are both relatively tiny - ICI will initially market the products worldwide - and if demand exceeds capacity (Aquasol guy told me that they had a lot of unused capacity at present) - then ICI will add their own plants to the production cycle - they have plants in 53 countries! This is what they told me. Al has a very good point: the SV-35 patent belongs to Sergio. You may buy out a patent - but given that this is very very new technology - what would the patent be worth? How large will the market be in 1,2,3+ years? No-one knows. The best solution for everyone is to license the proprietary products - best for everyone - in the near term. Why would ICI not want to be friendly with NIR? NIR is not obliged to deal with anyone! ICI may - like other large corporations - grab up the shares - and attempt a hostile takeover - but I doubt that very much - why kill the golden goose? If ICI and NIR develop a close, strong and trusting relationship - to the benefit of both sides - that's another way that 'big' business is run. ICI doesn't have a history of hostile takeovers. As I've said many times before - the information here on these forums doesn't tell the whole story and you need to diversify your sources of information. Every factual point I've made on these threads has been accompanied by contact phone numbers of web site URL's. I've strongly encouraged others to do their own DD. Read Greenjets recent post - she spoke to the companies herself just to confirm what Al, I and others had posted (you go girl!!). I've spoken to the North American Head of ICI (Cleveland, Ohio), one of their VP's (Louisville, Kentucky), Canadian Head of ICI Devoe Coatings (Sudbury, Ontario), plus to two folks at ICI Devoe Coating in Edmonton - including Ron Graham who is mentioned in the April 21 news. I've even been to ICI's World Corporate Headquarters in London, England. Given all of that I feel that I have a good feel for where ICI is coming from. I also had a lot of questions early on - as did many others - I couldn't finf any hard and fast answers on the threads - or web sites - so I said to myself - 'That's it - I need to know, and know now' - so I started to make my calls - and posted my findings to the threads. I've said that I didn't capture everything that was said to me - and I asked folks to follow up. Those who have - have picked up additional information that I either missed - or which wasn't passed onto me. Calls by others are very, very valuable - and tehy all help to assist us in putting the puzzle together. Anyway enough here - too longwinded again - just my info and opinions. Thanks for the feedback fastron. Back later, David
