AMD vs PII...Totally Awesome PII 300 including monitor..$1549

I'm wondering what took Matrox so long to discover this market?
Available in 3Q98.

I'm not waiting any longer! I'll buy separate cheap cards for now,
and when I need PCI slots in the future, I'll look to get their
mulimonitor card, depending upon the price. Colorgraphics Evolution 2 which drives 2 monitors costs $495. I hope Matrox prices theirs
around $180 or less.

The TEC Socket 7 mobo retails for $109
AMD-K6 300 3DNow - retails -3yr warranty = $188

The ASUS P2B = ~$180
PII 300 = ~$450 retail (I don't know the current drop in pricing)

There is a significant cost difference that one must consider.
The PII runs 32bit apps better, but for my purpose, I doubt
I would visually see a difference. "Visual" is my own personal
bench mark :-) What takes up most of my time is my own brain deciding to buy or sell a stock!

This is clearly an alternative. Will think about up until
Win '98 is released and the reviews done on what Annad say's
will be the very best mobo out in a week - California Graphics Photon 100.

(P.S. I couldn't find anything at Annad's that suggested AMD 300 3d
outperformed the PII 300, except for price.)

---------------------

Also, Totally Awesome said they don't deal in AMD. I'll see
if don't = won't. I guess they are big Intel dealers.

They said they got an "Awesome" deal on PII 300's. They
sell them $40 LESS than a PII 233. But you have to buy
the whole computer from them.

Their already built computer costs $1549 Includes the following:
3 yr warranty parts.........Lifetime Warranty Labor of any kind
They will beat any competitor by $100 assembling with same components
as competitor.

235w case - Enlight mid -(sometimes this changes).
Asus P2B mobo
PII 300
Western Dig 6.4g HD
Viper 3d graphics card
Awe(you know what I mean) 64 Sound card
US Robotics 56 modem
64 Grade A SDRAM
17" ADI mutiscan monitor 5p+ (3.5 yr warranty on crt)
keyboard/mouse/
really expensive speakers
The usual software bundle

They will subtract items you don't need like the monitor/keyboard/
mouse/software/modem/speakers. But the bare bones has to be purchased
from them. No selling of individual components without a barebones
purchase.

The parking lot is always full of people loading
computers in their cars.
