It's easy to get discouraged as Edusf once again slips to lower levels. I am. Could add a few reasons myself but none are new and have been touched upon in the past. The next quarter should be interesting. We're going against some strong comparisons from 97 But informed and knowledgeable investors in EDUSF will know this. I haven't changed my original projections on these next 2 quarters. I think flat at best but this would (in my opinion) be very strong. More likely we will be shy. This is Latin America's year and we're paying Degem for the privilege. (not that I'm complaining) I'd like to see revenues above the 4 million threshold before the release of My First English but It's not a given. News on edusf.com refers to continuing developments in Latin America.

Interesting article in Investor's Business Daily Monday June 8
The End of Bilingual Education.
This excerpt say's it all
<Ron Unz author of proposition 227 (to end bilingual education)said he conceived the ballot measure after he saw Latino parents protesting in Los Angeles to get their kids taught English in public schools.> End

The idea was to teach all the academic disciplines in a child's native tongue and ease them into English. This part (English proficiency)never materialized. It remained parallel and seperate courses and the number of limited English proficient students has skyrocketed.

Heinle and Heinle is a big player in the domestic(USA) market for courseware that supported the Bilingual educational effort. They will probably see reductions in this area. and therefore will be pushing hard to establish dominance in the dedicated English Instructional methods resulting from the demise of Bilingual Ed in the USA. They anticipated this and are preparing in conjunction with EDUSF the "My First English" courseware directed specifically toward this. Not coincidental it will be released around the time of the next new school year in the Fall.
Federal Annual funding for the bilingual effort peaked at 320 million in 97. Edusoft USA sales were about 2.5 million in the US for 97 and a large portion of this was for Early childhood software- unrelated. We weren't participating in this market but this could easily change as effective alternatives develop.

English Discoveries has been the mainstay of Edusoft and continues to generate increased revenues. The impact of MFE will double ESL related revenues and I predict rather quickly. 1999 should be an explosive growth year for Edusoft. (not that 98 hasn't started off well) ..and who knows where Compu-lingual is heading.

BTW I'm increasing my positions at levels below 6. I feel this offers the same value situations as my original accumulations in dec96.
