May interest calculations: others getting combined interest/margin?

Just got my May statement. During different parts of the month, I had margin debt and extra cash. However, it appears that the two interest figures were netted out, and I was left with one small margin charge. A few approximate figurings suggest their number is about right if this is in fact what happened.

Is this regular policy? Do others get it computed that way? I'm not actually complaining, because I don't itemize deductions and hence can't deduct margin debt (but am taxed on interest, of course.) But I didn't even know that combining the two was legal...
