Welcome aboard Ron! It's good to see some other Bemars on other SI threads.

I received the Abacus annual report yesterday, and it has a good little map showing the deposits/prospects in the Santa Cruz province close to Lejano and Bacon. In a roughly north to south line, covering about 100 kilometres, are the following (starting in the north):

1. El Puma (Minera Andes Inc) with 35m @ 3.67 g/t gold, 6.53 g/t silver

2. Cerro Negro (Mount Isa Mines Ltd. - MIM)

3. Lejano (Yamana Resources Inc.) with
Hole 1: 12m @ 642 g/t silver, 1.78 g/t gold, and 6.1% lead
Hole 8: 22m @ 290 g/t silver, 1.00 g/t gold, and 4.4% lead

4. La Manchuria (Abacus Minerals Corp.) with 58.05m @ 6.53 g/t gold, 22.3 g/t silver

5. Bacon (Yamana Resources Inc.) with
DH-1: 14m @ 737 g/t silver, 1.30 g/t gold
DH-2: 24m @ 664 g/t silver, 0.68 g/t gold

6. Manantial Espejo (Triton Mining Corp.) with 900,000 oz gold equivalent

The Bacon prospect lies about 80 kilometres due west of the following:

1. Cerro Vanguardia (Anglo American) 3,800,000 oz gold; begins production in Fall 1998.

2. El Dorado (Northern Orion Exploration Ltd.) with 23m @ 5.9 g/t gold

With sites like these, this is turning into quite an area play. It's interesting that the majority of these are Canadian juniors. Why aren't there some Argentinian/Chilean players active here?

Neil.

Hi Ron

Nice to see you back. I am in lurking mode only at this point. I monitor this site and others to get a sense of market sentiment. I mentioned earlier in a post to Greg that we are bottoming in the resource sector. However, as you know the summer does not normally create movement in resource stocks. Having said this I believe the progress that Yamana has made considering the market environment is nothing short of spectacular. The Santa Cruz properties as we discussed 1 1\2 to 2 years ago would stand out and we were right. the market does not care yet. This is an opportunity to bottom fish with perhaps 10 - 15% downside max. With an improving market which I expect
late summer early fall we should start to see a tentative rebound in resource stocks. Yamana will provide exceptional news IMHO 3 - 6 months out which will make us happy again.

All the best

Tony
