Sure it will ... it is calculated to. There are lots of folks that have not checked out the company. For that reason, they will read an article like this and will run to the hills as fast as they can. There are two parallels in this scene. One is the company that publishes newsletters that hype a stock because they have been paid to hype it by the company, and the other is these jerks who slam a stock because they are paid to slam it. That way the MMs make money and we all get screwed in the process. If you play into their hands, then they will screw you. If you don't then we will all be OK.
