Don, what your buddy at Sun tells you makes a ton of sense from a company focus perspective. It's apparent that VOCLF has chosen to be a technology leader - and the industry is still in a phase where someone's technology needs to win. Though their research resources behind this business may be large in comparison with the size of their company, it may be dwarfed by the resources companies such as LU or CSCO could put behind it internally to catch up. On the other hand, VOCLF got into this business very early, and so most probably understands this business better than most others. Also, from my past experience, I can state that it appears that VOCLF realizes it's never going to be able to get the marketing muscle it needs to drive its technology to market on its own and the only way it can do so is by partnering with the bigwigs. My only concerns are that if they partner with too many of these players, it makes it difficult for them to be bought out. Also, they always run the risk of what MSFT is great at doing - partnering with a technology leader, learning from them, and then turning around and screwing them over by taking that learning and doing it on their own.

I guess we'll have to wait and see!

Hi Don,
Sorry for answering late. Spoke, today, with Yahal the CFO. He says the main reason for the disaster in the stock price is (beside market correction) one analyst (from Raymond James, I think ) that found sales problems in NETSPEAK and decided to come with a report that all the industry is in problems.
This analyst recommended ntspk at $33 as strong buy and he felt frustrated and decided that it is industry problem.
Yahal did not say anything about the Q2 sales but my feeling is that voclf is in line on planes and we have to expect good news and good second half.(tenders results and DT orders). He said that only during the last 2 weeks of the Q he knows how was the Q but I got the feeling they have no problems. The news with LU will give potential customers some secure that they can buy now from voclf and later if something wrong with this small vendor they can go to LU.
I also have great confidence in the relation with ECI that give them
good backup in doing business with telecoms.
With 5$ cash at hand I think we are way way undervalue.
Shlomi.
