Pickwest, I was intrigued by "In the past it has repurchased shares and currently has options contracts to buy about 40 million shares at around $40 a share."

If Dell sells those options outright on the open market, that's a quick $850M profit minus their original cost ... about a whole year's net profit! Anyone know how this would appear on the income statement (extraordinary gain, financial, etc.)? What if they exercise the options instead and retire the shares?
