Tao, the only caveat I have heard about Datek is that they only insure cash up to 100k. They don't actually move your cash into a money market fund (shares of which are securities) and that might be a concern. They have the necessary SIPC insurance, so you're as safe as at any other broker.

My friend Tao:
<<Since I could not short any stock of Zona at 35 at Schwab, I was thinking of opening an account with Datek. My concern is that how are their execution of orders and are they reliable as a brokerage firm.>>
Datek executes orders better than Schwab.
Fact: I placed limit short orders on Zitel many times
at both Schwab and Datek. Only Schwab failed to execute an
order when the price actually was higher during the day.
I called Schwab on it, and was told that the marker makers were to blame.
This has never happen at Datek .Also Schwab charges 300 % more .

Your Friend, Michael
