After looking at the foreign markets this morning, I suggest we have a (symbolic) group prayer meeting asking that A. Greenspan be more specific and say the "only safe haven left is the US equities market"
Otherwise check post writers for long nails and hair on both sides of
of hands. Stay away from tall buildings and watch for falling cats,
take all medications. Bars may be a safe haven if you can get odds on the Bulls.

Compaq can offer the same PC to different customers at different prices. Companies do it all the time. Their problem will be, now that their customers know someone else is getting a better deal, their customers will ALL want the better deal. The customers who want this better deal will shop around for direct sales prices from Gateway and Dell and may find, to their surprise, that Gateway or Dell offers other advantages in addition to price. Not to mention what will happen to Compaq's VARs. BTW, I read last week that 25% of the PCs being processed by VARs are Dell. Is that possible?
