Scrambled brains.....

Hey all, that looked like great results from Isis today. Could someone tell me what the comparable results were for CNTO's drug? I know I should know this, but I got a conference going on that has totally fried my cerebral cortex....

Thanks in advance.

Emil:

My guess is as good as anyone else.

Isis combinatorial chemistry and small molecule programs (DOD, BI and Genelab) probably generate class compounds which they screened against virus target beside anti-microbial target. Probably they got some good results and similar but advanced programs (target) have MRK which got interested and screened initial compound libraries from ISIP. The results are research collaboration.

Regardless that this is very early step in drug development process it show that chemist/biologist who worked on oligonucleotide can do some on small molecules. MRK will have more than 10 bb extra cash ready to put in new programs/bts deal. Isis is only first one, but it is confirmation that their programs are serious one, and not a substitution for antisense. With this program Isis will learn about HCV and be able to upgrade their own small molecule/antisense programs targeting HCV.
