Steve,

Re ease of flying:

Let me give you a short response here as it is off topic, except for the end paragraphs. I'll send you a more detailed private msg in a day or two. For the first 50 hours, flying is more difficult than driving. You are adding a vertical dimension that must be integrated into your thought / reaction processes. After 250-500 hours of consistent flying, it will be as natural as driving.

After 1000 hours (or 5K or 10K hours), you will find flying no more "difficult" than driving -- but it always will be much more challenging, and interesting. Life's problems seem to slip away as cars and buildings become Lilliputian in size -- and you are master of the universe in the cockpit.

The sensation is the same whether flying a Piper Cub, a DC-8, or soaring in a glider at 25,000 feet over Lake Tahoe.

I'm posting this off-topic msg because it struck me that there is a parallel. In the threads, I have been following one Steve Goldman, Head Trader, who knows his stuff and generously contributes to these threads in a way in which we all gain. I wonder frequently, how can I become like Steve in my trading discipline and knowledge?

And guess what? Steve asks me (a "Head Trader" in the aviation community) if flying is difficult? Of course not, its just a matter of smarts, discipline, capital, a game plan and building experience. Nothing to it! A thunderstorm (and much more subtle atmospheric phenomena)can spoil your whole day just like GSCO. I've mastered the atmosphere. I'm still working on GSCO.
