Philip Services Corp - Globe says Yahoo chatters insult and irritate firm Philip Services Corp PHVShares issued 1311166121998-06-09 close $6Wednesday Jun 10 1998The Globe and Mail reports in its Wednesday, June 10 edition that Internet company Yahoo won't help Philip Services identify people posting critical comments about the company on its on-line message board. The Globe's Janet MacFarland writes that Yahoo says it will reveal names of its customers only if ordered to do so by a U.S. court. The chat site can be found at messages.yahoo.com. The Globe says Yahoo has become the location of the most active discussion group on Philip. On Friday, Philip responded to the stream of comments by posting a warning on the Yahoo site saying the discussion has "degenerated" into libellous comment. Philip said it "can no longer tolerate the use of the Yahoo message board to defame the company and its employees." Philip said it expects to confirm the Internet chatters' identities soon. Yahoo says it has a strict privacy policy and won't name names. Philip says two people, most likely former employees, appear to be disclosing confidential insider information about Philip and its finances.
