SoftQuad's June 10 news release:Opinion.

SoftQuad International Finalizes NewKidCo Joint Venture

Expected to Make Strong Contribution to Q4 Results source: &copy 1998 biz.yahoo.com

Opinion: either SoftQuad Inc's die fate has already been cast or said 'spin-off' simply was a ruse or it's announcement was simply the most inept positioning of putting oneself in play in history...the announcement of the divestiture of one of the most critically acclaimed internet software products and development teams in the world [and cited as one of the most promising internet development companies by Forrester Research pursuant to its HoTMetaL Pro/XML/SGML infrastructure] was 1) buried within a NewKidCo press release?? and 2) whose announcement was not picked up by any media including the Wall Street Journal, CNBC.com, c|net.com, Internet News.com's Internet World, CMP Media, TechWeb, NetDay News, news.com, ISP News, CBS MarketWatch, et al....no one...if SWEBF were serious about this divestiture it would not have been buried within another business unit's news release(.)...Rabins had something else up his sleeve...[in our opinion].

...at least their announcement was more serious/focused and not buried in an unrelated news release...perhaps SWEBF was sending a signal to their northern subsidiary to get their act together?...or a deal is already done or, again, their announcement to the street/suitors... was about as bad as it gets...actually it was as bad as it gets...shareholder value is shareholder value and one simply does not play games with shareholder value esp when confronted with a NASDAQ NMS delisting...the shareholders appear to be the victims of several management smoking guns of late...in our opinion.
