Well, we can see the advantages that a merger would have for Harvest, but what advantages does a merger convey to Tanner's? I like the Harvest Food Court idea, and perhaps Tanner's does as well. Looking at the type of restaurant that Tanner's operates, I wouldn't mind owning an interest in that company. It seems much more profitable than a Boston Market clone restaurant--hence, all the traditional Harvest units close. Tanner's is a bit more upscale, and they serve alcohol, which is a definite plus, IMO. By merging with Harvest, Tanner's can assume the net loss carry forward from Harvest, but what else could be motivating them to strike a deal? Tanner's is DEFINITELY in the driver's seat.
