Greenspan says U.S. may have to raise rates

WASHINGTON, June 10 (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Chairman
Alan Greenspan said on Wednesday the central bank might have to
raise interest rates if demand in the surging U.S. economy
failed to abate noticeably.
In widely watched testimony to Congress, the world's most
powerful central banker noted however that the Fed had not yet
seen reason to tighten monetary policy but was watching
inflation pressures closely.
