Very cunning Ted :)

I'm not into rumours, and don't think at all that a buy-out or merger will happen (nor am I completely convinced that it would benefit the shareholders), but one company that might be interested in Cirrus (or that Teo might have been thinking of, when he made comments about possible buyers) is Philips NV of the Netherlands (a major force in chips and technology for consumer electronics, with some interest in PCs also). According to Dutch newspapers, the company is looking for an American semiconductor division (Motorola has been mentioned). Hackworth has ties with Philips via Signetics, were he came from. Philips was also the big name in the recent MediaMax press release, and the Crystal consumer audio division has been dealing with them.

This is just pure speculation, do not take this seriously, but it does illustrate the potential for Cirrus to move away from being a PC-centric company, which is their plan according to the presentations they have made in recently.

Ted, Thanks for taking the time to bring over the info on the buyback plan. I took a position in CRUS earlier this week and then doubled that position today because I feel that this company has been excessivley punished due to the Asian mess..I guess only time will tell.
