WAKE UP FOLKS !!!!! THIS IS SERIOUS BUSINESS WE ARE TALKIN ABOUT!!!! ALL THREADERS and in particular Urologists about to turn into cardiologists, from DrWm Steere on down to hilm !!!!
The facts ( in deference to Leslie Mc Grath ) and only the facts:

-The No ONE treatment for MI/ Angina is Nitro.

-You can't say " we'll just NOT give them Nitro if Viagra is suspected on board "
" what " will give instead? There is nothing else to give.

-furthermore if their pressure is bottomed out how will you raise it? Most pressure agents ( such us Dopamine ) raise myocardial oxygen consumption and are relatively contraindicated in cases of myocardial ischemia.Well I suppose you could always put them on Aortic Baloon Counterpulsation ( wait till THAT hits the Wall Street Journal ; It's coming ).

Bracelet in your wrist? Yeah right.
What about the guy who wants to have a good night out ( away from his beloved wife ). You think he'll wear a bracelet so the his wife can identify ( his escapade ) in the ER?

And ladies and gentelmen, screening for coronary artery disease is much more complex than Wm Steere suggests :" ask for chest pain": Coronary artery symptoms include:

-Pain in the jaw ( see your dentist?)

-pain in left, or right, or, both shoulders, mimicking arthritis

-pain in left, or right, or both arms

-indigestion

-heartburn, both mimicking a trip to the local greasy spoon restaurant )

-pain in upper mid abdomen mimicking an ulcer

-pain in right upper abdomen mimicking a gallbladder attack

-fatigue, as the ONLY symptom

-No pain at all

-palpitations

-passing out

-shortness of breath when walking ( patients blame that on smoking and just keep going )

The above are just the historical findings.

Then we have to get into

-Family history
-Risk factors : smoking, high cholesterol, sedentary life, high Uric acid, diabetes, hypertension,
kidney disease etc etc.

And then you need a physical exam.
Followed by non invasive testing, and so on and so on,

TA

AAARRRGGHHH! Aren't there an infinitesimal number of possible drug interactions given the vast numbers of drugs many viagra users could bo on? I think it's been proven that viagra by itself is safe. Isn't that the bottom line? And like so many thousands of other safe drugs out there, we must be very careful not to create an unsafe condition by combining 2 or more 'safe' drugs, yes? This news seems like more of the same to me. But ST could be another sell-off I 'spose. What a bummer, too, given that (for the longs anyway) today we probably would have had a nice follow through to yesterdays rampin....
