>>Hmmm...so what does this say about potential tie-ratios for Sony's HiFi drive? In fact, if nobody really needs high capacity disks why bother replacing the 1.44Mb floppy at all? <<

The fact is Iomega relies on one thing- Zip, for the vast majority of its revenues. With Zip out of the picture, Iomega becomes yet another bloated has-been of a company, with nothing but memories of a long-faded glory behind it.

Sony on the other hand, offers a vast assortment of successful products which can help HiFi get off the ground. Just the outrageous profits from Sony Playstation alone could help crush Iomega. Sony can afford to lose money at first to make HiFi the Standard. Then make $$$ later as the HiFi becomes entrenched. Iomega cannot do such a thing for long without going bankrupt.

Iomega's money problems are just beginning. Believe it.
