TOSHIBA Sales and Services Sdn Bhd recently announced the local availability of its latest video compact disk ( VCD ) player, the TVD-860K.

Its assistant general manager of marketing department Chay Kim Hur said the TVD-860K is a powerful VCD player as it incorporates a specially designed integrated circuit (IC) which can minimise distortion to produce clearer images and purer sounds. It features a sleek, silver body with dual-colour switches that allow users to know the state of the disk.

The VCD player, which is priced at RM999, also features a karaoke program which allows users to select and program songs from three disks at the same time. Other options are digital echo effect, duet capability and 15-step key control, a feature that allows users to sing in their own key.

At the product launch, Toshiba Sales and Services' managing director K. Takagi said the company has acquired 10 per cent market share of the local VCD player market which is worth RM100 million, and intends to increase this to 15 per cent by year-end.
