Lee,

The only thing that has deflated is the dollar. You can take from
1965 pay scales and cost of merchandise, multiply by 10 and get about
the cost of things today. But, one huge difference is the level of
taxes we have to pay. Thirty years ago we didn't have such a heavey
tax burden.

In 1966 I worked for $385.00 per month, bought my first home ($9700.00)payment (57.00 per), new car (2800.00) payment (51.00 per)
and had spendable dollars that, percentage wise I don't have to day
earning 12 times the 1966 salary.

TAXES!!!
