steve--

well, nelson at least told everyone what was going on. maybe it will calm things down. we got caught up today in a downdraft. interest rates have to go down, so everyone flooded into bonds. should correct tomorrow.

on the LU stuff... NTT has already established tranmission rates in the low Tb range. it was a couple of years ago. i have some technical notes somewhere if you want me to dig them up.

photonic switch...yeah, very promising, but ALA has no hope. this will either come out of IBM research or bell labs.

'oxygen' from what i recall has already started or completed deployment. or maybe that was another project. it all gets very confusing. techweb has some stuff on it, just use the search function.

not suprised ALA forgot about BC. did they mention any of the RBOCs by name, or did they just refer to the JPC?

good luck to all,
trey
