From Volpe:

"Key Features and Advantages of the LifeGuide System:
* Potential for increased accuracy due to direct sampling of ISF
* Bloodless and more convenient compared to current methods.
* Sampling flexibility; unit is designed to be used on skin almost anywhere on the body.
* Faster results compared to some other non-invasive technologies.
* Easier to use when compared to current blood based systems.

"Problems with the Lifeguard System:
* Method is not completely noninvasive:
- We have experienced pain while using a prototype meter;
- May require two sticks for adequate ISF sample.
* Possible contamination of ISF sample by blood, causing inaccurate readings:
- We have observed sample contamination from blood while using a prototype meter.
* Device is very large and not very portable.
* Price of disposable man be expensive compared to current blood based systems.

"Possible pricing at the retail level will be $250 to 350 for the meter and around $0.80 per consumable per test."

My read: Users pay more, lug a heavier meter, stick themselves as much as twice as often, for BG readings that are "potentially" more accurate, but only if I can avoid contaminating the sample.

There must be something better out there in development.
