I2, The Big Picture

It is actually an 18 year cycle that has held since 1831. This was one of the interesting facts in John Murphy's Technical Analysis of the Futures Markets (p. 419). Based on the long trend, this cycle will end in the year 2000.

Not sure what sectors were good back then. Possible the horse and buggy whip manufacturers and the whale oil folks.

Wouldn't you know it. A lot of the boomers bought their house at the peak of the real estate cycle. Now the boomers get to invest into a bear market. Just doesn't seem fair!
