Yes, the tone of the thread has changed somewhat. Several people have called it quits, but there are at least three times as many that continue to post messages about looking for more shares to short. That indicates to me one of two things: (1) they think this is the very top and the long fall is about to begin; or (2) they think this is an intermediate top and they plan to short and sell soon on an interim drop. No one seems to be talking about option 2, however. They all refer to the premise of option 1.

Almost every downturn since the 40s has been accompanied by a series of posts here saying that the knife is beginning to fall. It seems to me that we need some prime mover to bump the knife. Fundamentals is not going to do it in the short term. Your supposition that the bond offering might have kicked it off is at least based on some information that could have had such an effect. Everyone else just seems to assume it will fall on general principle. I find that somewhat silly in the face of the stock's history.
