FREMONT, Calif., June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Insignia Solutions(R) (Nasdaq: INSGY), a leading provider of virtual machine/emulation technology, announced today that its popular RealPC(TM) compatibility software is included with Apple's PowerBook G3 computers sold in Asia Pacific. Apple Computer International Ltd. made the decision to include RealPC in its PowerBook G3 notebook computers for the second time in six months. RealPC is an easy-to-use software product that lets consumers play games and run other applications designed for Intel(R)-based PCs on their Macintosh(R) computers. As a standalone product, RealPC has an expected retail price of US $79.

"This is a tremendous vote of confidence for RealPC and for Insignia," said Joseph A. Taglia, Insignia Solutions' senior vice president for sales and marketing. "Clearly Apple recognizes Insignia Solutions as the leading expert in compatibility solutions and RealPC as the most appropriate solution for customers in this part of the world. RealPC provides Mac customers everywhere with cross-platform flexibility that is unmatched in the 'WinTel' world."

Jeanne Lim, Apple Asia Pacific's business manager of mobile and consumer products said, "Solutions like RealPC enable Mac OS customers to have access, not only to the great software products available for the Mac, but also to software on the DOS and Windows platform."

Fast action, vivid graphics, optimal performance

With RealPC, players can fully enjoy fast-paced, action-packed games regardless of the platform for which they were written. RealPC's exclusive EasyLaunch(TM) feature shields users from the DOS command line by letting them simply double click to run a DOS application. By installing a copy of Windows(R) 95, users also enjoy the fastest 3Dfx and DirectX(TM) support, technologies employed by the most up-to-date games.

Complete Integration With the Mac OS

Insignia's RealPC and SoftWindows(R) products are compatibility solutions designed for the Macintosh operating system, providing support for AppleScript(TM) to automate tasks in DOS and Windows, and integration with Apple Guide to help familiarize users with Windows 95. In addition, RealPC and SoftWindows provide support for SCSI devices, fast networking, and a full range of printers.

PowerBook G3s are Flattening the Competition

Based on the third-generation PowerPC G3 processor from IBM and Motorola, PowerBook G3 is one of the Power Macintosh G3 systems that include many technical advancements which simultaneously increase performance, lower costs, add features and simplify the Macintosh product line. The PowerBook G3 series of notebook computers are up to twice as fast as Pentium notebook computers. The PowerBook G3s provide the millions of publishing, multimedia authoring, and general productivity customers with best-in-class product features, quality, and reliability.
