Take a look back at a few of the current posts. SOMETIMES it is almost impossible to get a cancel acknowledged (15 minutes, a half hour, more). Have been there myself. And Murphy (Murphy's Law) is very alive and well at Datek, for me it always seems to happen on a quick moving stock when you need that quick cancel but it usually ends up costing you money.

You will find Datek is like a duck, customer problems and complaints roll off them like water. And don't bother trying to do anything by email, WHEN it gets answered, the reply is mailbot and generally is a stock answer that has nothing to do with your problem outlined in the email.

I do have one question, since you appear to have some experience with Datek.... If you have a limit sell order in, and you determine that your price will not be met, how long does it take usually, if you
want to cancel your limit sell, and switch to sell at market?

Jack, generally speaking, the acknowledgement of a cancel takes less than 30 seconds. There are exceptions. But this probably holds for at least 9 out of 10, maybe more.

You must then re-enter the order as a market order.

There is no "change" order capability.

All told, if you are using the "express" server, and you type quickly, it can be done in less than 1 minute.
