Tao, I had open shorts in excess of available cash all last month, and Datek paid me interest. A peculiar benefit, I had my money in positions all month, and got some free money. I think they changed their policy as of May 1, although I've never paid them more than $5 in margin interest, and always have gotten a credit.

If I had a position long, I sure wouldn't expect to be paid interest on the principle (sp?). Oh yes, Datek is for shorters :). I really don't think many brokers would have let me short CFON, MARG, and PNDA.
