A long demanding his certificates, or moving the shares into a cash account would do it without there being any buying. It is more likely someone who was holding long sold for whatever reason, and the shares moved out of Dreyfuss' depository. Also, perhaps some bigshot client wanted a short position, and they needed to lend the shares to him. Interesting note: I recall just before PNDA's run to 7 the shorts were complaining of forced buyins (and Datekers too!) at 4. Sometimes it works in your favor.
