It is ironic to me that a thread called "From the Trading Desk" has become a therapy session for traders who have decided day-trading isn't for them. If you want to be good at anything, there is a learning curve. Some deal with it, some quit. Don't take it from me, just look for the successful traders and listen to them...

Jeff,

Everyone has different skills. A good buddy of mine heads the bond trading desk at a huge bank in NY and is a wonderful trader, but would say the opposite, that he can't pick or stomach picking for the long term to save himself yet he is one of the best traders/daytraders I have ever seen. Cold, calculated, emotionless.
Nonetheless, he understands the value of long term investments and puts a nice allocation of his cash in mutual funds of varying risks, etc.

Most important Jeff is that you find your own path, that which you are good at and stick to it.
