Domain Fees..Web Hosting Services >>>you have to pay Internic a two-year registration fee, which, unless they have dropped their price (which I can't imagine) is $100 for two years plus (at present) $50 per year thereafter.<< Internic dropped the price ( I think they were asked/told? to). The only thing that is clear to me is $70 up front (good for two years) and then $35 per year for new applicants. For Domains registered prior to March 31, the way I read it is still $50 per year to maintain? If you update? (make a minor change?) it sounds like your fee will drop to $70 for two years and then $35 per year??rs.internic.net >>Cost New registration Domain name registrations with registration dates on or before March 31, 1998, the fee is $100.00 USD. This fee includes a 30% Internet Infrastructure Fund contribution that NSI is required to pay. (Re-registrations of these names, in the future, will not include the 30% fee because this requirement ends midnight, March 31, 1998 ET.) For domain names with registration dates on or after April 1, 1998, the fee is $70.00 USD. Covers initial registration and most updates to the domain name's database record for a period of two years. These updates include: replacing existing contacts with new contacts, changing name servers and updating information about an existing contact. Updates that require the processing of a new Domain Name Registration Agreement will be subject to a new registration fee. These include : changes to the domain name itself or changing the domain name Registrant to another party. Renewal (Re-registration) For domain names with anniversary dates on or before March 31, 1998, the fee is $50.00 USD. This fee includes a 30% Internet Infrastruction Fund contribution that NSI is required to pay. For domain names with anniversary dates on or after April 1, 1998 the fee is $35.00 USD. The renewal (re-registration) fee covers one year of maintenance for the domain name record. and are assessed each year on the anniversary of the original registration. This includes 200 MB bandwidth per day. I can't imagine any new site using that much bandwidth but maybe....I searched the site and could not find the rate for additional bandwidth. The only reference I found was one for a commercial account and a statement to call for details. Elsewhere in the site they refer to commercial accounts starting at $145 per month. It can get very expensive if one exceeds the bandwidth limitations. One should compare the above to Adgrafix Web Hosting Services. adgrafix.com . At one time I had a reference to a page that made recommendations for Web Hosting services ( lost the bookmark in my last crash). Adgraphic was one of two recommended sites. One of the reasons was the 1 GB per day bandwidth allotment. Adgrafix starts with a 15 MB / $79 setup fee and $39 per month with 1 GB bandwidth per day. This could be substantially less expensive than tabnet if one were to have a successfull Web Page. If one uses graphics on their pages the bandwidth requirements are substantially higher than an all text site. 15 MB for a web site is substantial. Adgrafix has several options for more advanced sites on a sliding scale. (I did not see this a Tabnet but may have missed it) Adgrafix has a rather complete software package for maintaing ones site and adding features. I have not investigated Tabnet's additional benefits but at first look they seemed less than Adgrafix. Zeuspaul ps I do not recommend sites offering "unlimited bandwidth"
