Rocky, weren't you the one who was advising us to go long Sony last winter when it was in the 90's? Yes. I believe you were. If Sony's prospects are so good, why is the stock languishing with a multiple H&S pattern? Though I have no current position in it, I recently made a few points shorting it. And if it breaks it's neckline and closes below 79, I'm going to be all over it like stink on sh#t.

Sony must defend its vast, existing empire. Like the Persians in Alexander the Great's time, they have grown big, and soft. IOM is not SNE's only, or even stongest competitor in any of its markets. Why would SNE squander large quantities of money on a new, low or negative margin venture? Especially when their business climate is the worst in 40 years, their stock market and banks are failing, their own people saving and not spending, and the whole Asian economic universe is contracting. I believe it is because their pride is hurt and this is some manager-in-denial's idea of easy pickings. When they find out how wrong they are, flopman will find itself in the same tech-dungeon as Beta.

I haven't seen the new movie, but in the old ones, the last thing Godzilla does before returning to the sea is roar loudly. Enjoy it while you can, 'cause Godzilla's at the high tide mark and retreating fast.

BTW, as I type, the Nikkei 225 is down 2%, knocking at the door of that all important 15000 level again. Where will it be when we wake up tomorrow? Where will SNE ADR's open tomorrow?

<<Just think, if every Sony Playstation box comes with a rebate coupon inside good for $30 off the purchase of a Sony HiFi drive. And, think if Sony is able to integrate the 200MB HiFi drive into the Playstation line, just like Nintendo is planning to release a 64MB floppy drive of their own. The possibilities are endless.>>

The last thing Sony will ever do is integrate a HiFD drive into Playstation. You yourself have made the endless argument that zip
will never be a standard among other reasons, because software will never be distributed on it. Oh, so will HiFD be different??? Especially when Playstation games come on a standard CD???

Even if you incorporate the drive along with the CD you open up the whole piracy issue. Hey they could have their own "Nomai" thorn in
their side then. Anyway, that is why Nintendo chose a proprietary format and so will Sony, if the ever do go in that direction.
