A few of my thoughts- please skip if uninterested. So the FDA states, for the record, Viagra is safe used according to guidelines and the deaths are NOT the fault of the medication. Stock climbs. Very next day WSJ, apparently a new branch of the FDA, declares it unsafe and drives price down. Are you going to be more inclined to buy the WSJ and see who 'they' applaud or pan? Or try to ignore them and make your decisions without their 'sage' advice? I am not ignorant of the news media. And yes media digs and leaks broke Nixon's presidency which was intentional cover-up, but it seems like someone is 'trying' to make something here a real issue. If Viagra were not the hype medication of the century would it have gotten such coverage today by the WSJ, I don't think so. Maybe the media is riding Viagra coat tails too... The FDA sets standards. The pharmaceutical firms meet them, often exceed them. If you want more, set a higher standard, for ALL new medications, don't lip kick a company because every new consideration and nuance has not been met according to 20/20 hindsight. And do not complain if the process, already the longest and most thorough in the world I think, gets even years longer before promising new medications are released. Sad thing is, my opinion, your opinion, the media's, are just that, often emotionally clouded and personally biased views of truth and conjecture which runs like an IV drip through the awareness of everyone everyday. The more negative the more difficult to remain focused on the positive. Notice, on this thread, how quiet the squeaky wheels yesterday, and louder today? The psychology of the market. It can be much like warfare.
