So they pay the dividend but the stock price is automatically reduced by the exact amount of the dividend. Guess what? The short positions now have a paper profit equal to the amount of dividend they have to pay. Now the Company has less assets and won't be able to meet the minimum requirements to get a NASDAQ listing. However, the President who has about 5 million shares gets a million in CASH. Guess what. If the Company is stupid enough, or the President is greedy enough to do this. I'll switch sides. I'll sell my long position. Call up my Canadian broker and go short.

Get a grip. How many Major Public Companies pay a dividend. Do the shorts in these stocks cover because of the dividend. Of course not.

If the Company wants to spend $1.5 million dollars. Have them buy back another million shares. EPS will increase by up to 20%. Now if there is a short. They will be in Deeep Trouble.
