True. How many on this thread can name the R/W channel
suppliers? (I can't)
It doesn't really matter whether Cramer says it's easy
to make DDs. I just resent that he says it. And
I resent that the companies making these technology
marvels are treated so shabbily by their customers and
by the stock market.

So, what is a typical flying height these days? 1 microinch?

I agree. When I read the 'disk drives aren't that hard to make' part by Cramer, the way I saw it was that Cramer meant that there aren't high barriers to entry.

The corollary is that the value added portion is low which implies product differentiation is low which in turn implies the little boys can hurt the big boys if they do the right things at the right time (and get a bit lucky)...
