Techie, check the numbers at the bottom of your screen. You will see that the average daily volume is around 14MM shares. 1/2 is 7MM shares.

Second, What I said was "they were trying to get the small guys to buy as the big guys were dumping" This amounts to the same thing as engineering an artificially high price.

Nobody has been able to point to negatives within the company. The best the bears can come up with is IDC's decreased estimate for PC growth. Geoff Nunn has pointed out why decreasing ASPs are irrelevant. Jim Kelley and others have pointed out the great advantage Dell garners from falling component prices. And unlike Compaq, there are no channels to buffer phony sales, so what you see is what you got with Dell.

But if you want a negative to chew on, here's one I raised (and it was discussed seriously by serious people on this thread!): stock transactions are not run through the income statement, so investors don't know the real results. This is a problem with accounting standards and it applies to all companies, not just Dell.

Finally, virtually all people on this thread are rational. It's folks like you, who rely on conspiracy theories to explain away the price of the security, who leave me wondering. Considering what a fine company Dell is, I can't blame people for cheerleading. And I'll tell you something else. If you had anything negative to say that was rational and founded in fact (unlike the BA/IBM rumors) people on this thread would take you very seriously. But to be taken seriously you need to make some serious, factual and rational posts. Unfounded conspiracy theories just don't hack it.

TTFN,
