Well, sounds like Quest is going to come out of the chutes very strong. An awful lot of the channel checks on the AOL boards are turning up good news--seeing some real jumps in the signup sheets and enthusiasm among clerks about how well the game will sell the first week. If THQ ships 300,000-400,000 (30-40 copies per retail location) and only reserves its typical 10% or less, we shall be seeing another blowout quarter. THQ seems like a very safe investment right now. Some posts from today: (from LT) I'm out in OHIO and just got back from the software etc. They will have Quest in tomorrow and have 54 people signed up. Southern Park Mall Eric 1-330-758-9599 (from Litmont) Software Etc- El Con Mall (520-327-5828) "Quite a few on list, game looks awesome. Should be out tomorrow. Be here before 11 or you won't get one". Park Mall (520-790-1887) "Should be out tomorrow, page is full of pre-orders. Probably be sold out right away". Tucson Mall (520-292-2200) "14 people on list, probably get about 20 in first shipment. Better get here early". Best Buy- Oracle and Wetmore (520-696-3442) No pre-orders at this store. "We'll probably get about 30 or 40. Should sell very well since it's the first RPG for N64". (from DennisR) This is the highest I've heard. I recently completed an auction on E-bay with some guy who was really into video games. We get the chatting since he was a follow AOL user. Without him knowing I'm a THQ shareholder, I changed the topic to the release of Quest 64 today/tomorrow. He told me that the waiting list for "that game" was at 98 or so at a EB in Rhode Island. That was from a few days ago too! The EB told him the first 100 or 150 will probably just be for preorders.
