Nancy >>CPQ already has the disappointment factored in<< It's 4.4 x book right now. Even at 29, I think it's still doubled in price from last year when there were NO forecasts for 2 quarters in a row of .01 eps. I don't think there's much fear in CPQ's price at this level for the uncertainty that lies ahead with Asian demand, costs & success of DEC merger, Microsoft delaying 64bit NT till 2000 to wait for Merced, & today a $10B lawsuit against CPQ (damage request looks excessive & unlikely IMO/BWDIK).

I have high hopes for CPQ eventually, but Microsoft saying they're delaying 64bit NT to wait for Intel to catch up is worrisome. They now have to make up lost years of 64bit-NT/Alpha sales with 64bit Unix, something that makes me hold my breath with its current earnings and book value. I have a hard time trying to guess if the funds will pick it up now. IMO, CPQ/INTC/MSFT all have significant reasons (earnings/NT delay) to be "triggerable". BWDIK!

I'd love to be convinced if I'm missing it,
regards,
Tom
