Paul,

I think the forward statements we'll be reading next week will do a lot more for us then the numbers. Though I don't think .45 cents is all that bad considering the price of the stock today.

Those forward statements are everything in a report.

Could care less about next 2 quarters at this price. If stock was $55, would think differently. However, at $35, implication is stock market believes disaster scenario. I believe anything short of a disaster gets reported, and stock goes up. The most important thing about earnings announcement is not guidance for next 1 or 2 q's, but it is outlook for next FY 99.

I believe at a minimum the stock market gives Jabil an 18x forward P/E (although I believe should be a least 30x, in-line with growth rate). At $35 divided by 18 P/E indicates the market believes Jabil will earn only $1.94 next year, or virtually flat with this year. Basically, nobody believes the analyst estimates of $2.40 for next year as implied by current stock price. I happen to believe these numbers may prove very conservative. We'll see what company says when earnings are reported and how stock reacts.

My opinion.
