No buyers anywhere on the inside. This confirms that you bulls might be right - these are some smart guys at Amazon.

efficient? at losing money. if the "connection" is so good why does amzn spend millions on advertising? isn't the connection good enough?

retailers make money off of ignorance. the provides information transparency to customers who will then patronize the low cost sellers. if you aren't one then you will be severely impaired. to play you must beat the next guy on price. and so the death spiral goes. the winner will be the low cost producer(s) with the biggest bucks to survive losses.

amzn doesn't fit that bill, imho...

Secondly, we will be downloading music (and video) within a few years,

If your definition of a few is 5-10 then maybe, but 2-3, no way.
Also, concerning CD sales, I would guess the "average" person buying CDs online is more "net savvy" than the the "average" book buyer. Probably alot younger, maybe half the age, and much more price conscious. Nothing to back this up just my opinion about who buys music as opposed to who buys books. So if AMZN is the price leader, they will do well, if not, then....

And don't forget about Columbia House, and those other 12 for 1 places. When these guys get online, watch out. I can't tell you how many times the wife has signed up for these things.

Secondly, we
will be downloading music (and video) within a few years, and Amazon wants to be
there.

Amazon will be a thing of the past in a few years. The debt will kill them as will competition. Fortunatly, this is documented because SI does not delete the older posts<G>
