Elmo,

Look at the source of the comments regarding the "two horse race". Publicly ignoring and downplaying a serious competitor is a marketing tactic that both IBM and MSFT are playing.

The point they dont mention in the article is that currently its Groupwise that is behind Notes and it is Groupwise that is in front of Exchange in marketshare.

But, it is an effective marketing tactic because there are a ton of IT decision makers out there that fall for stupid marketing tricks (these are the same decision makers that keep putting their money down on the "Shell and Pea" game and believe its not rigged). So why wouldnt IBM and MSFT play the game? It works.

BTW, I couldn't get to the Infoworld May 18, electronic issue, but there was another article on MSFT titled "NT to get cozy with industrial apps" My question to y'all, is NOVL getting into this area with their slimmed down versions of small business Netware and also upcoming Netware 5.0??

Also, an interesting IBD article on MSFT and NOVL yesterday, page A11, titled "SOHO: Small Office/Home Office". I didn't read the paper until too late, so I wasn't able to grab it off of the IBD electronic posting which doesn't keep an archive file of past editions for some reason. Finally, NOVL made it into IBD's graphic display of "stocks in the news" for companies over $12 bucks per share (A24). Watch out all! ;)

Court to set rules in shareholder suits.
Appeal panel's questioning points to tougher standards.

"...Although the three-judge panel didn't say how it might rule, the questioning hinted that the court is likely to raise the bar..."
