kal - no smoke - the strengths and weaknesses of mainframes are not obvious to someone who has not spent a lot of time working with them. I spent a lot of time a few years ago looking at server architectures on both S390 and Hitachi mainframes and without going into a lot of detail I don't see that as an explosive market opportunity any time soon. Those machines are good at lots of things but I doubt that mainframe JAVA will be one of them... Thanks for the input, always interested in your views.
