That is so true. Sometimes you get the bear. Then again, there are times when the bear gets you.

Every stock doesn't have a massive short position. Even the stocks that do have very large short positions (documented) may not pay off on their exposure as they buy after you do when the market ends for the day. They even put in orders well below market that the MMs look to fill during the week.

In short...no pun intended you have to have an operating business. It helps if it is making a profit, but it should be doing something. Ideas do not count. Never did. In the end either there is a substantive business or you just try to suck others in to an idea. That is a pyramid scheme at best.

My opinion is that the business should be more than a comic "light bulb over the head". It should have substance and investment by the company. Yes....the company should show where exactly and for what they put up their money. Lonnnngggg before you do.
