Peter, Thanks for the links to Avandia. I believe that you are correct about Avandia being BRL49563. I do know that the human compound in clincals by SBH can be used at a much lower concentration than WLA's Rezulin and BRL49563 is also much more potent the Rezulin in animal studies. LGND of course has been using BRL49563 in their animal studies (including the initial Nature study) and Targretin and LGD1268 synergize with the more potent TZD, BRL49563. Moreover, LGND has its own TZD program and Robinson has indicated that LGND is making significant progress in that area. Maybe SBH needs to do a merger so they can buy LGND :-).

Speaking of SBH, CNBC just announced that SBH price has gone up over 4% in London this morning on rumors that Jan Leschly is leaving SBH, which of course could re-ignite SBH/GLX merger rumors. Another merger candidate, ZEN, is reported down on the rumor news.

Reuters is also reporting on the merger rumor between SBH and GLX. However, Bloomberg has put out an SBH denial:

Latest from CNBC is the SBH is up 4% and GLX is up 1% in London trading. I have linked stories to the merger table at home.att.net
