Poor Eddie, he never could open his eyes and figure out that the light at the end of the tunnel was a train coming his way! I saw on the Compaq thread that someone has stated that Bloomberg was carrying a story about a $1 billion inventory write-down. Has this been confirmed, and do you have a URL for the story? Also, has anyone a good idea of what kinds of inventory levels are out there for HWP and IBM?

Frankly, all of this unsold inventory is making me a more than a little nervous. WDC reports a lot of excess inventory in the dd's also. Excess inventory is acting like a an anchor on earnings, and I'm sure that it is slowing demand as discretionary purchasers await pricing stabilization before committing to a purchase. The sooner HWP, CPQ and IBM bite the inventory bullet the better for the entire industry.

Good call on this Jim. Congrats!
