When Correl was writing its apps in Java there was a rumor (I even read about it in an article) that MS WAS SECRETLY writing office in Java and would only release it if it had to. I believe this. I know they write tons of code that is never released.

First off, the Internet is not a threat in any way to Windows. If anything, it has increased sales for Microsoft.

It is a threat because people do _not_ need widnows to function on the web, Ecommerce, where the fat is, doesn't care about windows.

The point is, the Internet is making people buy computers. they want to "get on the Internet", use the web, email, etc. So what do they do? They go buy a new computer to do it. What are they buying? PCs with Windows.

E-commerce doesn't care about Windows. It isn't adverse to Windows either. In fact, a PC with Windows provides an excellent platform for a lot of people to access the Internet, and spend money. And that's all that matters. Unless the Internet makes other OSes more appealing in some way, it doesn't hurt Windows.
