I don't know, the press release clearly states the combined company will report breakeven. I hope I am reading it wrong as well.

My rough calculation looks like CPQ will have a .12 loss on operating basis if it was to report by itself.

This is how a calculated it:

DEC was estimated to report $1.22 on 147.4 million shares or $179.8 million. The $179.8 million into CPQ's $1.53 billion shares outstanding is approx $.12 cents.

However, breakeven results on a operating basis is probably bogus to begin with since companies have a tendency to bury everything they can in the those "one time" charges that seem to appear every quarter.

Also ... I don't see how the combined companies can be accretive so soon ??. Any expenses usually associated with merged companies get eaten up with golden handshakes and redundancy monies. Comments anyone ??.

I am still long, but not as much as I was. I thought this was my future portfolio jewel not so long ago... but now I have more doubts than ever - at least for the next twelve months. Ah well ......
