Some facts:
Geac Computer Corp. 1997 Revenues=M$377,400 Number of employees=2,700
symbol=GAC on the TSE Stock price=C$47.35
Corel 1997 Revenues=M$359,393 Number of employees=1,600
Stock price=C$2.95

Anything wrong with this picture? How can Corel lose money when Geac makes money with 1100 employees more and almost the same revenue. If Corel can return to profitability and capture a niche in the market then maybe, just maybe, its share will catch up with Geac's share price. Remember Geac was less than C$4 just a couple of years ago. Management in Corel need to improve their margin, cut unnecessary spendings (contest, private jet, excessive advertising, etc.) and concentrate on the WP market, Corel Draw, Corel Paint and other office production tools. They should show the Street that they have a clear business plan and its working otherwise they will just sink to oblivion. They should sell their hardware subsidiary and keep their focus on their award wining products and WP suite - which still has a strong following.
