I think its a very bad idea...like shorting AOL in 1993-94.

I trade YHOO both long and short. My last trade was a short position that I opened yesterday. Along with my YHOO short, I also opened a short position in XCIT.

I only hold short positions for a maximum of 5 days; if the direction goes against me, I always close it out and either go long or short at a higher tick, depending on how the L2 looks.

Money can be made both ways in these stocks; just don't hold a short that has gone awry. Re: AMZN from 59 to 100+ earlier this year.

Better to ask a habitual shorter of YHOO. Their horror stories will make you think twice.
